VISAKHAPATNAM: Sub-Inspectors and higher officials conducted Pallenidra (sleeping overnight in the villages) programme in the villages under their jurisdiction on Friday night, as part of the Jana Maitri exercise initiated by Inspector General of Police (north coast Andhra) V.K. Singh. Four Deputy Superintendents of Police, six Circle Inspectors and 21 Sub-Inspectors conducted the Pallenidra programme in 31 villages. Superintendent of Police G. Sreenivas informed in a press release that the police officers held meetings with the local villagers and received representations on the local problems. The representations would be forwarded to the heads of departments concerned through their Sub-Divisional Police Officers who would follow up the matters. On Friday night the officers received representations on problems regarding drinking water, ration cards and power supply. Family disputes were also brought to the notice of the police officers. Pallenidra would help in improving the police-people relations and the police would come to know the problems in the villages.
