Khammam
TDP Parliamentary Party leader Nama Nageswara Rao (right) and MLA Tummala Nageswara Rao burning cotton and paddy seeds of substandard quality in front of the District Collector's office in Khammam on Saturday . — KHAMMAM: TDP activists staged a dharna in front of the Collectorate here on Saturday in protest against the alleged failure of the government to address the numerous problems faced by the farmers. The party district president and Khammam MLA T Nageshwara Rao, MP Nama Nageshwara Rao and others addressed the dharna. The TDP leaders alleged that the persons at the helm of affairs turned a blind eye to the woes of the farmers and focused their attention on clinging to power by hook or crook. “After being devastated by the vagaries of nature in the past, the farmers are now reeling under the apathy of the government,” they charged. They further alleged that the government had failed to procure the entire paddy produce of the farmers earlier and now denied adequate quantity of seeds to the latter. They demanded that the government should initiate urgent steps to provide the required quantity of seeds of farmer's choice on a war footing and contain the black-marketing of the seeds as well as the spurious seed menace.
