VIJAYAWADA: The management of Sri Chaitanya Educational Institutions on Saturday presented a cheque for Rs. 2 lakh to Volga Archery Academy as a token of appreciation for the overwhelming show by the city archers in several international tournaments including the Commonwealth Games.

Chief administrative officer Uma Maheswara Rao and assistant general manager Murali Krishna gave the cheque to international archers Ritul Chatterjee, V. Jyothi Surekha, and M. Chiranjeevi in the presence of Velagapudi Ramakrishna, president of the Krishna District Archery Association, and Cherukuri Satyanarayana, chairman of the Volga Archery Academy.

“Our chairman B.S. Rao was moved by the untimely death of international archer and India coach Ch. Lenin. We (Sri Chaitanya) will always be in the front to help archery in the future and we hope to see our archers winning medals in the Olympics,” said Mr. Uma Maheswara Rao.

The sudden death of Lenin created a vacuum as the budding archers lost a quality coach and a guide. “We are trying our best to get the Korean coach Lim Chae Woong who produced many Olympians. But owing to financial constraints we are unable to move forward.

We met Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy during his recent visit to the district and MP L. Rajagopal has explained to the Chief Minister on our achievements and our requirements. The Chief Minister promised to look into the matter,” said Mr. Satyanarayana.
