BANGALORE: Governor H.R. Bhardwaj has said that maths and temples have an inordinate amount of unaccounted wealth that can be used to fund charity works.

Speaking at an award function organised by the National Association for the Blind, Karnataka unit, on Saturday, he said: “I have no faith in fake saints and sadhus. Money lies locked in maths, much of which is unused, or at best used for self charity.”

The Governor, however, refused to comment on the controversial truth test that Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa had contemplated taking at the Dharmasthala temple to prove his innocence against corruption charges.

He later told presspersons that he was “unhappy” with the distribution of funds meant for flood relief in the State.

Mr. Bhardwaj distributed awards to school students, teachers, principals and NCC cadets, and commanding officers and directors who had raised funds for a campaign by the NAB for the welfare of the visually impaired.
