It is easy now to track political affairs of old city on Youtube and other networking sites Parties are now uploading video clippings promoting their views on different issues HYDERABAD: Ideologically, political parties in the old city may confine themselves to issues of local interest, but when it comes to reaching out to their supporters, they are developing a global outlook.. The advent of social networking sites and video-sharing websites has come as a blessing for many followers of these political parties. Right from speeches of leaders in the Assembly and at public meetings to inauguration programmes, followers are uploading the video clippings on Youtube and other social networking sites. Such is the trend that one can browse for video clippings of an incident, programme, meeting or any development in a jiffy as followers of the parties are flooding websites with them . So much so, these websites now offer the video clippings of the recent attack on MIM legislator Akbaruddin Owaisi. These days it is easy to track political affairs of old city on Youtube and other social networking websites at your home rather than attending a public meeting or programme. Travelling all the way up to the venue can be taxing and time consuming, feels Mohd. Sohail, a student from Falaknuma. New medium For political parties, these websites serve as a new medium to reach out to the people, especially the educated sections. Parties are now uploading video clippings promoting their views on different issues or development. When one browses for a particular development in old city on the Youtube, a series of video clippings get listed out. Browsers have the option of picking the best clipping and get confirmed information about different issues. More than anybody, this trend of posting video clippings is helping city dwellers living in the Middle East and other countries to get updated with the latest political and developments. While regional and national political parties are yet to catch up with the trend, parties in the old city are already gaining popularity in usage of the new medium.
