Security stepped up after NDFB threat

Staff Reporter

Kolkata: Security was stepped up at the New Jalpaiguri station in West Bengal's Darjeeling district on Saturday following a threat from National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) militants to blow up the station.

The threat comes close on the heels of the detection of a powerful improvised explosive device (IED) from the Guwahati-bound Kanchenjunga Express on June 17.

The State's Director-General (Railway), Dilip Mitra, said a superintendent of the railway police was camping at the station and strict checking was being conducted under his supervision.
