For a cause: A rally being taken out jointly by the Helping Hand Society and Excise & Prohibition Department on the occasion of World Anti-Drug Day in Warangal on Sunday. — WARANGAL: Increased alcoholism and drug abuse were not only shattering the lives of youth but leading to disorder and chaos in the society, observed Congress MP S. Rajaiah. Flagging of a rally jointly organised by the Department of Excise & Prohibition and NGO Helping Hand Society on the eve of International Anti Drug Day here on Sunday, Mr. Rajaiah said the Ministry of Social Welfare had come out with a series of programme to prevent drug abuse and rehabilitate the addicts. The NGOs should make use of the schemes and contribute their might to the society. The rally was taken out from Kazipet railway station to Fathima Nagar bridge. Excise Superintendent of Police Panchakshari and Helping Hand Society president P. Ramu and others were present. A rally has been taken out by Pragati Seva Samithi from Warangal railway station to JPN road on the occasion of ‘World Anti Drug Day. The rally was flagged by Warangal Intejar Gunj Circle Inspector S.M. Ali. At the meeting conducted with the theme ‘Life does not rewind', Congress leader Banda Prakash who was the chief guest of the programme released the Behaviour Change Communication material prepared by Pragati Seva Samithi for the prevention of HIV/AIDS among Injected Drug Users. Mr. Prakash called upon the individuals and youth to strive to eradicate spread of illicit liquor, pan and tobacco products. Kakatiya University NSS programme officer, Mr. Srinivas said India was known to be having highest population of youth. It should stand as an example for best behaviour and habits and should lead other countries in the world. Representatives of various NGOs were present. 2k run organised Karimnagar Staff Reporter writes: On the occasion of World Anti Drug Day, a two-km-long run was organised in Karimnagar on Sunday. The sportspersons, Andhra Pradesh private nursing homes and hospitals association doctors Prabhakar Reddy, Ch. Ramana Chary and others participated in the 2k run, Karimnagar Deputy Superintendent of Police Srinivas Rao flagged off the rally.
