PUDUCHERRY: The Pradesh Congress on Sunday urged the territorial government under Chief Minister N. Rangasamy to take steps to ensure approval from the Medical Council of India for the government medical college here to admit students for the coming academic year. A statement issued by Congress media person A.V. Veeraragavan questioned why the Chief Minister did not meet officials at the MCI when he visited New Delhi recently. The statement said that while Ministers from Tamil Nadu were camping in New Delhi to seek approval for medical colleges in that State, none from territorial government here had tried to take up the matter directly with the MCI.
