“Rs.1.49 crore sought to complete reservoir works”

Staff Reporter

Tiruvannamalai: To complete the much delayed Shenbagathoppu Reservoir construction works, Rs.1.49 crore has been sought from the government, Food Minister Agri S.S. Krishnamurthi said on Sunday.

He was visiting the reservoir constructed across Kamandala Naga Nadhi while making this remark.

“A proposal has been prepared and sent to the government to make it possible to open the shutters of the dam for irrigation. On receiving funds the pending works would be completed and the dam would be put to use. An estimate is being prepared to develop a park in the dam site to attract tourists. Roads to about ten remote villages in the hillside in this region would be repaired and new bus routes would be introduced soon,” Mr. Krishnamurthi said. He was accompanied by District Collector Anshul Mishra, RDO Bupathi and PWD Executive Engineer Rajamani.
