KURNOOL: ‘Dhwajastambham' (temple flag post) was replanted at a glittering function at Srisailam temple on Sunday. Minister for Endowments Ponnala Laxmaiah, Minister for Law and Courts E. Pratap Reddy and others took part in the ritual preceding the installation of the post. A decision was taken recently to replace the 40-year-old pillar by sourcing the teak log from Rajavommangi in East Godavari district. A Nellore-based contractor A. Adinarayana Reddy donated Rs. 4 crore for the pillar and gold-plated cover for the entire length of the pillar measuring 53 feet. Prolonged rituals for four days were conducted preceding the main function since June 22.
