DHARMAPURI: The promises given by the Chief Minister Jayalalithaa during her election campaign would be implemented in phased manner, said P. Palaniappan, State Minister for Higher Education here on Saturday. He was on a tour for thanking the people for voting AIADMK to victory at over twelve villages of Muthukoundankottai, Melsavalur, Keezhsavalur, Kolakathur, Mariamman Kovil Kottai, Muthupatti, Nagasenaalli, Kundalapatti, Chinnapudur, Periyapudur, Nallampatti and Hale Dharmapuri. The Minister was given a rousing welcome by the people. The Minister said that most of the representations received from the public were pertaining to drinking water, health, old age pension and other social issues. As a first step towards alleviating the woes of weaker sections, the government inaugurated the 20 kg free rice scheme, he added. Other election promises would be implemented in a phased manner. Due to the able administration led by the Chief Minister Jayalalithaa, the law and order in the State is peaceful, the Minister said. R. Kamalanathan, Tahsildhar, Dharmapuri, and AIADMK and DMDK party workers accompanied the Minister.
