ARIYALUR: The Ariyalur and Perambalur district committee of the All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC) has urged the State government to modernise and expand the government cement factory in Ariyalur and fill up the vacancies.
A resolution was passed at the district committee meeting held under the chairmanship of A.Venugopal, district president, AITUC, here on Saturday.
The meeting urged the Centre to roll back the hike in prices of diesel, LPG, and kerosene and to disburse the Sixth Pay Commission arrears to panchayat staff.
The government was also urged to set up the proposed power plant at Jayamkondam in the district.
