Fire victims get solatium

Tuticorin: Victims of a fire accident at Sivalur in Udangudi block were given solatium here on Saturday.

According to a press release, in the presence of Collector R. Selvaraj, S.P. Shanmuganathan, Minister for Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments, gave Rs. 1 lakh each to the kin of a man and his wife who were killed in the fire accident that occurred on Thursday.

Besides, three persons, whose huts were damaged in the fire, received a solatium of Rs. 5, 000 each.

House site pattas would be given to beneficiaries in the region soon.

Revenue Divisional Officer of Tiruchendur, Porkodi and Tahsildar M. Veerachami were present.

Later, the Collector inspected the Government Hospital at Udangudi.

He interacted with patients on treatment and facilities they were getting at the hospital. He also had a discussion with the health care professionals. He also verified the attendance register.
