BERHAMPUR: Maoists allegedly killed a youth Supura Sirika in Narayanpatna block of Koraput district. Victim's brother Puri Sirika was also murdered by Maoists last year. Supura's body was found by localites near Bijayghati on Sunday morning. According to Koraput Superintendent of Police Anup Sahu, the assailants slit open his throat to give him a painful death. As per localites, he was missing from his home for the past two days. It was suspected that Supura was killed because Maoists suspected him to be a police informer. Mr. Sahu said Supura was a resident of Narayanpatna area, who due to threats from Maoists had left his village to reside in a remote hamlet on a hilltop near Bijayghat. In the recent past he was travelling to Koraput to meet the administrative officials for the compensation provided to the victims of Maoist violence in relation to the killing of his brother. Supura's brother Puri was murdered by Maoists on September 10, 2010 along with sarpanch of Bijayghati, Rabi Khara. Puri was a supervisor of MGNREGA programme in the area. Through a letter left at the spot, Maoists claimed that they had killed Puri and Rabi as they were acting as police informers and were key elements behind the disruption of a rally planned by Chasi Mulia Adivasi Sangh (CMAS) at Koraput.
