‘Rs. 272 crore for IKP Bhavans'

HYDERABAD: Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy has approved a Rs.272-crore plan to construct Indira Kranthi Patham Bhavans in 1089 mandals in the State.

According to press release from the Chief Minister's Office here on Sunday, each bhavan would cost Rs.25 lakh. More than a crore rural poor households have been organised into 10 lakh SHGs under the name of Indira Kranthi Patham (IKP).

Purchase record paddy

The SHGs have been further federated at village and mandal levels.

It may be recalled that IKP groups had purchased a record 20 lakh metric tonnes of paddy from farmers through market intervention scheme this year as against three to four lakh tonnes every year.

The SHGs in the State have accessed Rs.7024 crore from banks and set access Rs.9024 crore during 2011-12.
