KARIMNAGAR: Irked over the negligence on the part of R&B officials regarding the maintenance of an old bridge across river Manair connecting Karimnagar with Hyderabad and Warangal, the Lok Satta Voluntary Organisation in association with the students of Vivekananda Residential School and Sister Nivedita School have participated in ‘shramdaan' and cleaned the old bridge on Sunday.

The students along with the representatives of Lok Satta voluntary organisation N Srinvias, T Rajamouli, and others participated in the removal of stones, mud and small shrubs on the old bridge. They flayed the R&B officials for neglecting the maintenance of the old bridge in spite of reports about the damage caused to the new bridge. They appealed to the administration to declare the old bridge, constructed some 100 years ago, as heritage property of the district and conserve it from its degradation. They urged the administration to expedite the repairs caused to the new bridge at the earliest and allow the traffic from the new bridge instead of using the old and ancient bridge and avoid damages to the heritage monument.
