SANGAREDDY: The farmers' demand for setting up a rake point at Akkannapet in Medak district has remained unfulfilled. Lack of godown space in the vicinity of the railway station is cited as the reason for not establishing the rake point. Though it is a topic of discussion at the Zilla Parishat meetings, the elected representatives do precious little to solve the problem. The existing rake a point in Zaheerabad is located at the end of the district, hence the farmers are demanding the establishment of another point at Akkannapet in Ramayampet mandal. Centrally located According to M. Hanumantha Reddy, chairman of the district unit of the Farmers' Federation, Akkannapet would be the centre of the district to distribute fertilizers to farmers. It would cater to the needs of farmers at Ramayampet, Medak, Siddipet, Gajwel, Toopran, Chegunta, Jagadevpur and Narsapur areas. It can be established within few months if any politician really wants it. It's a policy decision to be taken,'' commented an official.
