GULBARGA: The Regional Innovation and Collaboration Hub (RICH) here has come out with new initiatives for students. The technical committee has advised H. Maheshappa, Vice-Chancellor of Visvesvaraya Technological University, to direct all engineering colleges to take initiative to select second-year students interested in innovative projects. Selected students would be screened by eHealth TBI before their proposal is recommended for a grant of Rs. 75,000 for project preparation. The selected projects would also be showcased at the Innovative Conclave scheduled to be held on September 8 this year in Bangalore. Sources in the RICH told The Hindu here on Saturday that the Vice-Chancellor had been requested to ask all engineering colleges to designate a motivated member of their faculty as Chief Innovation Officer, who would work with students in a sustained manner to promote innovation from the grass roots level. eHealth TBI is also preparing a concept note on holding a training programme for entrepreneurs who seek to set up their units at the proposed food park with technical support from Central Food Technological Research Institute and National Dairy Research Institute. Sources said eHealth TBI would also help VTU evolve a joint proposal to make RICH a Regional eLearning Hub.
