assistance:Housing Minister R.Vaidyalingam handing over relief to family member of a victim in Thanjavur on Sunday.
THANJAVUR: Minister for Housing and Urban Development R.Vaidyalingam handed over cheques to the tune of Rs.14.55 lakh to kin of the 12 persons of Keela Thirupunthuruthi village in Thanjavur district, who were killed in a road accident on June 15 at Mohanur in Namakkal district and 17 injured persons, here on Sunday. The relief was sanctioned from the Chief Minister's Relief fund.
The Minister handed over a cheque for Rs.1 lakh each to the kin of 12 deceased persons and Rs. 15,000 each to 17 injured persons. K.Baskaran, Collector, M.Rangaswamy, Thanjavur MLA, M.Rathinaswamy, Thiruvaiyaru MLA, Muthulakshmi, Revenue Divisional Officer were present.
A group of people belonging to Keela Thirupunthuruthi village went in a van to Mohanur to attend a funeral and were returning to Thirupunthuruthi when their van collided head on with a lorry.
Bus stand inspection
The minister inspected development works at the bus stand near Union Club from where town buses ply to Thiruvaiyaru, here on Sunday. Concrete flooring is being laid at the bus stand at a cost of Rs. 50 lakh.
