Lucknow: Beni Prasad Verma, Union Minister of State, Steel (Independent Charge), on Sunday said he was expecting elevation to the Cabinet rank in the next reshuffle of the council of ministers. On speculations that he might be the Congress chief ministerial candidate for the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections 2012, Mr. Verma said he would not contest though he was confident the party would do well. On the induction of some new faces from Uttar Pradesh in to the Union cabinet, Mr. Verma said, “it is possible” but did not elaborate. Regarding declaration of the party candidates for the polls, he said it would take another one month. – PTI
