Special thanks:Students celebrating the 92nd birth anniversary of Herman Gmeiner, the founder of the SOS Children's Village. BANGLORE: The 92nd birth anniversary of Herman Gmeiner, founder of the Save Our Soul (SOS) Children's Village was celebrated at the ‘village', here on Thursday. The colourful event featured several cultural programmes presented by children from the village that is run by an international non-governmental organisation. The children participated in song and dance performances, as well as talent shows. Students who performed well in the SSLC and II Pre-University examinations this year were given prizes. The efforts of those who excelled in sports and participated in extra-curricular activities were recognised as well. The chief guests for the day's function were Mamatha M.R., member of the Karnataka State Commission for Protection of Child Rights, and C.R. Chandrashekar, professor of psychiatry and Deputy Medical Superintendent at National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences here.
