COIMBATORE: As many as 9,600 candidates on Sunday took the Central Teacher Eligibility Test at 19 centres in the district. The Central Board of Secondary Education conducted the test, which would make eligible candidates for teaching position in CBSE schools. Topics Candidates aspiring to teach students in classes I to V took the first examination., which comprised questions on the following topics: child development and pedagogy, maths, environment studies and languages I and II. Those with a desire to teach students in classes VI to VIII took the second examination, which comprised questions on child development and pedagogy, maths and science, social studies/social science and languages I and II. Sources said the duration of the two examinations was one-and-half hours each. Delay At a centre the examination began after a 15-minute delay. The examination supervisors extended it by 15 minutes towards the end to compensate for the loss. Invigilators from CBSE monitored the conduct of the examination.
