Increase in number of vehicles leads to mayhem

choc-a-bloc: Heavy traffic jam near Hi-Tec City railway station.

HYDERBAD: Madhapur right from Jubilee Hills till Kondapur remains a beehive of activity right from morning and till late in the night. The traffic flow here has four-wheels as a major contributor and what till last decade used to offer a leisure drive has now a nightmarish experience every day for those driving along.

Widening of the stretch has hardly come to help given the spurt in number of vehicles and also with the shaping of several commercial spots on this stretch. Travel time has doubled and for most part, vehicles end up in traffic snarls and forced to crawl.

Shared autos compound the woes with their reckless driving, halting and starting indiscriminately in flagrant violation of driving norms. Office cabs ferrying employees of several IT and ITES too are to be blamed for the chaos.

The flyover near Cyber Towers has come as a help in reducing the waiting time for signal at this point but hardly offers a full solution. A tunnel proposed at this intersection allowing smooth flow of vehicles from Madhapur towards Shilparamam has not been taken up so far.
