‘Allow children to pursue their dream'

Udhagamandalam: Parents should not impose their views with regard to education and career options on their children, observed the Nilgiris Collector Archana Patnaik here on Monday.

Participating in a function organised by a Tamil daily to honour students who had excelled in the 2011 SSLC examinations at the district level, she said that students should be allowed to decide what they want to become when they grow up.

Pointing out that until a few years ago, medicine, engineering and teaching were the only fields which the majority of the students opted for, she said that now they had lots of courses to choose from. They should carefully decide what was good for them and pursue their dream.
