This Day That Age
Broadcasting to the people of Kenya from London on June 26, Mr. Ronald Ngala, Leader of Government Business in the Kenya Legislative Council, described the London talks as “constructive and productive.” He said an official communiqué would be issued at the end of the talks. Mr. Ngala's four-minute broadcast was relayed from London to Kenya Broadcasting Service. Referring to the work of the Kenya delegation consisting of the Governor, four Ministers, three opposition members and officials, Mr. Ngala said that they “worked impressively as a team.” He also expressed his pleasure at having been able to establish happy relations with the leaders from Uganda and Tanganyika which “augurs well for the future.” Referring to his future programme Mr. Ngala said that he, with other Ministers, would be meeting Mr. Iain Macleod, British Colonial Secretary, with a view to discussing their request for full internal self-government for Kenya in 1961. In the light of these discussions Mr. Ngala said they intend returning to Kenya bringing back agreed proposals.
