Landless families occupy government land

Special Correspondent

KURNOOL: Landless families led by CPI (M) district secretary T. Shadrak occupied 34 acres of government land at Parumanchala in Jupadu Bungalow mandal of Kurnool district on Monday. In all, members of 34 families gathered along with bullocks to plough the land.

Mr. Shadrak said they decided to forcibly occupy the public lands as the officials were preparing the ground for encroachment of the land by large farmers and industrialists. Even through the poor were demanding the officials for cultivable lands, the mandal officers kept the information in secrecy and passed it to industrialists, he added.
