Brighter evenings for RSC stars

KOCHI: For a few years now, playing at the Regional Sports Centre's covered courts was a problem for tennis players here.

“Often, spotting the ball in the evenings was a problem, it was dark,” said Kerala men's champion Rynold Timothy.

New floodlights

That problem was solved on Monday night with new floodlights being switched on at the centre's four courts, which also house the RSC-Mahesh Bhupathi Tennis Academy.

Vineet Ohri, the Chief Commissioner of Customs, Central Excise and Service Tax, Kerala Zone, inaugurated the floodlights which have been installed at a cost of Rs. 5 lakh.

“It's wonderful, nice and bright,” said a happy Rynold. “Now, there will be a big rush to play in the evenings.” — Special Correspondent
