Hassan: Janata Dal (Secular) activists staged a protest here on Monday against the arrest of party MLAs in Bangalore. The protest turned violent when a few people, reportedly party supporters, pelted stones at two Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation buses. The protesters stalled traffic on Bangalore-Mangalore road and Hassan-Mysore road. Several business establishments in Hassan and Holenarsipur remained closed after the chaos. A few people, claimed to be of JD(S) supporters, appealed to shop keepers to shut their shops. The police have taken 30 people into preventive custody.
