Minister's assurance on cable car project

Udhagamandalam: High priority will be given to the construction of a cable car project here, said Tourism Minister M. Buddhi Chandran while speaking to newspersons here on Sunday.

Pointing out that it was a long-standing demand, he said such a facility would do a world of good to the cause of tourism in this popular vacation destination.

However, green laws prevented such a project from coming up in some of the ecologically sensitive places in the hill station.

The possibility of connecting a couple of places with a ropeway within the town would be explored, the Minister said.
