loud and clear:Students taking out an awareness rally on International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking in Nagapattinam on Monday. – NAGAPATTINAM: The district marked the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking observance with a youth-filled rally flagged off by Collector T.Munusamy from the Revenue Divisional Office here on Monday. The Collector elucidated the adversarial impact drug abuse had over society. The rally, with placard carrying, sloganeering youngsters culminated at the Government Hospital , where a presentation on drug abuse and its calamitous socio-economic manifestations was held. The rally witnessed participation from over 300 students from Natarajan Damayanthi Higher Secondary School, St.Anthony's Higher Secondary School and Government ITI here. Earlier, a cycle rally organised by Brahma Kumaris was flagged off to create awareness of ill-effects of drugs, by the Collector at Avurithidal. The rally with 15 women and 30 men cyclists, passed through Akkarapettai, Poigainallur, Velankanni, Pradhanaramapuram, Vettaikaraniruppu, Vellapallaam, up to Vedaranyam Rajaji Park carrying message of a drug-free society.
