SJ(D) may have to sever ties with UDF: Kodiyeri

Staff Reporter

Kozhikode: Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, MLA and Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader, has said that the evolving political situation will make the Socialist Janata (Democratic) [SJ(D)] have a rethink on its alliance with the United Democratic Front (UDF) in the wake of a more crucial political development taking shape at the Centre.

He was speaking at a seminar organised by the Keluettan Study and Research Centre here on Sunday in connection with the anniversary of the imposition of Emergency in India.

UDF claim

Mr. Balakrishnan alleged that the UDF claim of completing its five-year term in the State was intended to keep government officials with them.

K. Krishnankutty, SJ(D) secretary-general, who was on the dais, said the Left parties should take the lead in the fight against the increase in fuel prices in the country.
