17 injured as bus overturns

Bangalore: Seventeen people were injured when a minibus overturned while negotiating a sharp curve at Channapatna in Ramanagaram district on Monday.

The accident occurred at Pandavapura Gate neat Ammalli Doddi village when the bus belonging to a private garment factory was ferrying employees to the workplace.

The injured have been identified as: Rajendra, Manjamma, Prameela, Ramya, Rekha and Shwetha of Kodihsahalli, Gowramma and Shahshikala of Vittalenahalli, Shagyamma, Susheelamma and Rekha of Singarajepura, Prathibha of Dyavapatna, Vidyashree and Geetha of Haniyur, Appaji Gowda of V.V. Halli and Shwetha of Chennapatna. “Two persons suffered fractures and have been shifted to a hospital in Bangalore,” an officer at the Chennapatna police station said. According to the victims, the mini bus was over-speeding when it overturned. Police said they are questioning the driver.
