Kadapa
Women of Upparapalli village protesting at Kadapa Collectorate on Monday. KADAPA: Women of Upparapalli village in Siddhavatam mandal carried empty plastic pitchers and staged a dharna in front of Kadapa Collectorate on Monday deploring supply of drinking water once in a week or fortnight. Upparapalli sarpanch M. Pitchaiah lamented that Rural Water Supply officials cut the water supply pipe at Malleswaram disrupting water supply to the village. Until last year, drinking water was supplied to a water tank above a hillock in Upparapalli by drawing water from a sump at Kondamachupalle through a pipeline, he recalled. Ever since the pipeline was cut by RWS officials, drinking water is being supplied once in a week or two weeks posing untold hardships to Upparapalli villagers, Mr. Pitchaiah said. Protesters of the village represented to Collector V. Anil Kumar seeking proper water supply to them.
