75% pass in BA examinations

Girls outshine boys by bagging 41 out of 48 ranks


1,305 students pass in first class

Colleges in Ernakulam bag 33 ranks


KOTTAYAM: Girls swept the rank list bagging 41 out of the 48 top positions when Mahatma Gandhi University published on Monday the results of the last batch of Model One BA examinations held in March. Colleges from Ernakulam led the tally with 33 ranks while colleges from Kottayam stood second with 11 ranks. Idukki netted three and Pathanamthitta, one.

Out of the 7,606 candidates who appeared under the 17 arts streams offered by the university, 5,729 passed the examinations, the average percentage of pass being 75. Last year, the average pass percentage was 71, according to a statement from the university.

Out of the successful candidates, 1,305 passed in first class; 1,665 in second class and the rest, in third class. The detailed list is available on www.mgu.ac.in.

Thomas John Mampra, Controller of Examinations, said that the applications for scrutiny and revaluation of answer sheets in the prescribed format should reach the university on or before July 26.

Applications forms are available at the University Examination Store or can be downloaded from the university website. Photocopies of mark lists or hall tickets shall be submitted along with the application.
