Landslips cause panic

Officials at Bolewad in Karwar taluk where landslips occurred on Monday.

Karwar: Fear gripped people of Kadwad in Karwar taluk following reports of landslips in the Bolewada area of the village on Monday. It may be recalled that 19 persons were killed when landslips occurred in October 2009.

But there was no loss of life or property in the Monday's incident. A part of the hillock that collapsed is adjacent to the one where landslip occurred in 2009. After the Monday's incident, people of Bolewada were shifted a safe place.

Deputy Commissioner B.N. Krishnaiah visited the spot. The district administration had initiated steps to shift people from Bolewada to a safe place, the Deputy Commissioner said.
