SI recruitment test in August: Sabitha

Home Minister meets Chief Minister to discuss the issue

‘Exam will not affect candidates from Telangana'

Sabitha Indra Reddy

HYDERABAD: Putting an end to the speculation about the conduct of the recruitment test for Sub-Inspectors of Police, Home Minister P. Sabitha Indra Reddy has announced that the examination will be held according to schedule in August.

Ms. Reddy met Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy here on Monday to discuss the SI recruitment slated for August 13 and 14 and the demand for deletion of F(14) from the Presidential Order to bring Hyderabad under the zone VI, and that it should not be treated as free zone with regard to police recruitment in the State capital.

The meeting assumed significance as the Telangana Political JAC demanded that the SI recruitment be postponed till the F(14) was deleted.

Later speaking to media persons, she said the government decided to conduct the examination for recruitment to 1,293 sub-inspector posts in the State as it would not affect the interests of the Telangana candidates.

Clarifying that there was no need to link the demand for F(14) clause to the SIs' recruitment, she said the notification had clearly mentioned Hyderabad as part of the Zone VI. About 8,980 Telangana candidates in Zone V and VI would appear for 643 posts, accounting for about half of the total posts.

She also said that only candidates belonging to sixth zone would take the examination for 440 posts in that zone and ruled out the apprehensions that the posts would go to candidates outside that zone.
