Work inspected

NAGAPATTINAM: Minister for Fisheries K. A. Jayapal inspected construction of Anna University Engineering College, Thirukuvalai campus, here on Sunday and urged the officials to expedite the work.

The permanent structure to house the engineering college has been under construction in its vicinity at a cost of Rs. 5 crore since 2010. The campus has been functioning on borrowed infrastructure of the Anjugam Muthuvelar Government Higher Secondary School campus since its inauguration in 2007. Majority of the students, from other districts, have been housed in private rented rooms with abysmal facilities. However, delays in the project, lack of adequate facilities including classrooms and research laboratories had forced students to stage protest.
