S. Prithiviraj, third from right, president, SSI Association, Pudukottai, releasing an action plan. PUDUKOTTAI: Small scale industrialists association of Pudukottai district has welcomed the state government's initiative in curtailing power shutdown in Tamil Nadu. A resolution adopted to this effect at its general body meeting held here recently urged the government to step up generation and completely exempt small industries from the ambit of power shutdown. Another resolution wanted prompt implementation of the ‘single window concept' for the benefit of small scale industrialists and micro, small and medium entrepreneurs. The meeting wanted expeditious implementation of the subsidy-based credit scheme during the current financial year to relieve the industrialists of their financial burden to a great extent. Releasing a copy of resolutions, K.R. Thangaraj, president of Tamil Nadu small and tiny industrialists association, Chennai, said the government's efforts in stepping up power supply had come as a great relief. Rajappa Rajkumar, president of BHEL small industries association, appealed to the entrepreneurs to start manufacturing units for boiler components in and around Pudukottai. The BHELSIA encouraged setting up of a cluster of enterprises so as to benefit a large number of small and medium industrialists. S. Prithiviraj, president of SSI association of Pudukottai district, said the monthly grievance meetings organised by the association had gone a long way in conceding the demands of industrialists. He explained the role being played by the entrepreneurs' guidance cell in guiding the new entrepreneurs in every aspect – right from getting the bank credit to preparing project profiles. S. Chinnappa, district president of Chamber of Commerce; S.M.Pannirselvam, president of SIDCO industrialists association; L. Nagappan from the plastics manufacturers association; N. Renganathan from the SIPCOT industrialists association were among those who spoke. Earlier, Mr. Thangaraj installed Mr. Prithiviraj as president of the small scale industrialists association of Pudukottai district for 2011-13. P. Muralidharan, secretary of the association spoke.
