2G accused Morani gets clean bill of health

NEW DELHI: The Medical Superintendent of G. B. Pant Hospital here on Monday filed a partial medical report on the health condition of Karim Morani, one of the accused in the 2G spectrum case and director of Cineyug Films Private Limited, saying Morani was not suffering from any serious ailment.

However, a complete report on his health condition would be filed only after the MRI report is submitted, the report said.

Later, Vacation Judge Ajit Bharihoke adjourned the hearing on Morani's application for interim bail to July 5. This was to allow the hospital authorities to file a complete report.

The report further said Morani was admitted to the hospital on June 23 following loss of consciousness at Tihar Central Jail here. He was discharged the next day. His pulse rate and blood pressure were normal and no cardiovascular problems were noticed, the report added.

He along with former Union Telecom Minister A. Raja, DMK MP Kanimozhi and others is lodged in Tihar Jail in judicial custody.

Bail rejected

They were sent to jail following rejection of their bail pleas initially by the special court and later by the High Court.

The Court has sought the medical report to verify Morani's claim that he required interim bail for better treatment outside as suitable treatment for his ailments was not available at the jail's medical facilities.

Morani had sought regular bail on medical grounds in the trial court as well as in the High Court but both courts had rejected his plea saying there was nothing wrong and that he was getting proper treatment at the jail's medical dispensary.
