Three autorickshaws gutted

TAMBARAM: Three autorickshaws were destroyed in a fire accident in Pallavaram in the early hours of Monday. Pallavaram police said three autorickshaws were parked outside the house of Pandian, auto driver, on Thandumariamman Koil Street in Cantonment Pallavaram.

Pandian's autorickshaw and two more belonging to his relatives were parked outside the house. Around 2 a.m., the autorickshaws began burning. The cause of the fire is yet to be established, Pallavaram police said, adding that sparks from overhead power supply cables might have caused it. Pandian is a local functionary of the DMDK, police said.
