Pawn broker arrested

BANGALORE: A pawn broker, wanted for charging exorbitant interest rates and allegedly harassing debtors, was held here on Sunday night.

Chandra Layout police, acting on a series of complaints, arrested Kundan Jeswant Singh (38), who runs J.K. Pawn Brokers on Gangondanahalli Main Road.

Jeswant Singh, a resident of Thigalara Thota near Nayandanahalli, was accused by J.D. Manjunath of Chandra Layout of not returning his collateral — property documents — over a loan of Rs 1.5 lakh for which the complainant said he had paid Rs. 3.9 lakh.
