Mayuri's autopsy report in two days, say police

Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD: Forensic experts have sought two days time to give their opinion on the death of B. Mayuri, niece of Secunderabad MP Anjan Kumar Yadav.

The autopsy report assumes significance as the victim's family members alleged that her husband and in-laws burnt her to death for additional dowry while the latter maintained that she committed suicide.

“The victim bolted the door of the bedroom and the bathroom from inside. She apparently doused herself in kerosene before lighting a matchstick,” the investigators said.

The victim's in-laws and other women members of the family rushed to the bedroom on hearing her cries and smoke emanating from the room around 6 p.m. By the time they broke open the doors of the bedroom and the bathroom the woman had suffered nearly 100 per cent burns and died. Mayuri's in-laws run a private dairy. They use firewood to boil milk and hence they used to store some kerosene. The victim carried kerosene in a tin, according to the police.
