CPI(ML) supports people's stir

VIJAYAWADA: The Krishna district unit of CPI(ML) has expressed its solidarity with the people's agitation in Orissa and at Sompeta in Srikakulam district.

Addressing a gathering on Monday, CPI(ML) district secretary M. Bhargavasri said that people were up in arms against anti-people policies being pursued by the State governments.

Tribal people were opposing the agreement between the Orissa government and South Korea-based Posco. The government agreed to hand over 4,000 acre of land to Posco six years ago for take up mining.

As many as 50,000 tribal people living on the coastline would have to vacate their places to pave way for mining.

Similarly, people in Sompeta were also opposing the thermal power plant. Militant agitations were going on at some places.

The CPI(ML) would extend its support to the public agitations, he said.
