Attempt to murder charge against two

Coimbatore: The Thudiyalur police have registered two cases of attempt to murder against two persons on Sunday. The police said A. Suresh Kumar (40) of Urumandampalayam was running a real estate business with T. Ravi (44) of the same area.

Following a dispute, they started operating individually. Due to previous enmity, a wordy quarrel ensued between them and Ravi allegedly assaulted Suresh with a knife. Suresh was admitted to a private hospital in Thudiyalur. In a counter case filed by Ravi, he alleged that Suresh assaulted him with a knife. Ravi was admitted to CMCH.

Dowry case filed

The police have registered a dowry harassment case against six persons on Sunday. G. Mohan Kumar (55) of Chinnammal Street, Saibaba Colony, in his complaint said that his daughter was engaged to Arun. He alleged that Arun's family demanded dowry and threatened him and his daughter. The police are on the lookout for Arun and his family members Tamilarasu, Jaya Tamilarasu, Arjunan, Malar and Leka.

Jewellery stolen

Burglars broke into a house belonging to K. Ramasamay (58) at Senthil Nagar on Puliyakulam Road on Sunday and decamped with four sovereigns gold jewellery.

Liquor seized

The rural police on Sunday arrested four persons for possessing liquor in bottles meant for unauthorised sale. The Periyanaickenpalayam police arrested M. Sundarrajan (29) for possessing two bottles of liquor. The Vadavalli police arrested R. Murugan for possessing 40 bottles of liquor. The Anaimalai police arrested V. Rajan alias Govindasamy for possessing five bottles of liquor. The Avinashi police arrested K. Kumar (33) of Sirumugai for possessing five liquor bottles.
