Chemplast ‘B' in Super League

CHENNAI: Chemplast ‘B,' Air India (Mumbai) and BPCL (Mumbai) entered the Super League stage of the all-India Servo-YSCA Trophy cricket tournament after winning their respective matches on Monday.

The scores:

Kattankulathur 129 for seven in 25 overs (E.J. Karthik 57, Saurav Bhandekar three for 38) lost to Air India (Mumbai) 130 for four in 21.5 overs (Paul Valhathy 36, Avi Barot 51 n.o.).

Chemplast ‘B' 177 for eight in 30 overs (Syed Mohamed 71, R. Sathish 32) bt BPCL (Kochi) 80 in 27.4 overs (P.M. Jineesh 30, Abhishek Mehra three for five, Syed Mohamed two for three).

Brindavan 74 in 27.2 overs (Prasanna three for 12, Gautam three for 18) lost to Rail Wheel Factory 75 for no loss in 9.2 overs (V. Chelvaraj 34 n.o., R. Jonathan 34 n.o.).

RKM Vivekananda College 110 for seven in 19 overs (Avishkar Salvi three for 29) lost to BPCL (Mumbai) 113 for two in 18.3 overs (Suryakumar Yadav 38 n.o., Bhavin Thakkar 28).

Ramesh Flower (Tuticorin) 112 in 28.2 overs (Muthukumar 28, Dhanraj 32, P. Murugesh three for 25) lost to Finestar 113 for no loss in 22 overs (P. Murugesh 49 n.o., P. Rajesh 51 n.o.).

Gunasekar shines

Gunasekar's 87-ball 107 powered Harrington Cricket Academy to a 53-run over Dharmapuri District in the final of the Harrington Cricket Academy State-level U-17 cricket tournament here on Sunday.

The scores: Harrington Cricket Academy 223 for four in 25 overs (Gunasekar 107, R. Viswanath 51 n.o.) bt Dharmapuri District 170 for four in 25 overs (Sathish 57, Sarathkumar 54, Krishnamoorthy 34 n.o.) .

Chess selection

The Thiruvallur District Chess Association will conduct a selection tournament for boys and girls in the U-15 and U-19 categories on July 2 and 3 at the Vijay Anand Chess Academy in Mugappair.

The top four rankers of this tournament will represent Thiruvallur District in the forthcoming State championships to be held at Salem and Rajapalayam respectively.
