M.N. Sathyarthi Award announced

Kozhikode: V.D. Krishnan Nambiar, former Principal of Government College, Chittur in Palakkad district, and a native of Thiruvalla , has been chosen for the M.N. Sathyarthi Award for 2011 in recognition of his contributions to Malayalam literature as a translator.

The award is instituted by the M.N. Sathyarthi Trust in memory of the writer who is remembered for his translations of many popular Indian-language works into Malayalam.

The award ceremony will be held on July 6 at a function to be held in memory of Sathyarthi at Alakapuri Auditorium in here. Mr. Nambiarhas translated into Malayalam the novels of Bhishma Sahni, Bimal Mitra, and Kameleshwar, the biography of writer Ajeet Kaur, and nearly 1,500 short stories.
