VIJAYAWADA: The Paura Samaja Vedika (Forum for Civil Society) leaders and activists will organise a public opinion mobilisation drive and a pada yatra programme in city on June 30 in support of their demand for corruption-free governance in the country. Forum leaders Tumati Premnath, Malineni Narayana Prasad, Pothini Venkataramana Rao, Dr. Shyam Prasad and others at a press conference said that members of all people's organisations, professionals, women's and youth organisations and others will participate in the protest programmes. They said that a signature campaign would also form part of the drive. Public opinion camps The general public can submit their opinions at the public opinion camps to be held at NTR Circle and at Lenin Centre near Chandana Brothers from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on June 30. They can participate in a padayatra from NTR Circle to Sub Collector's office from 3 p.m. the same day which will conclude in submitting a representation to the district officials about their demands for a corruption-free society. Mr. Premnath and Mr. Narayana Prasad said that there was a lot of support from different sections of people in the city to the movement launched by social activist Anna Hazare and other leaders at the national level against the corruption which was striking at the roots of Indian democracy. They said that at the local level, they would mobilise the public and step up the agitation for bringing the Prime Minister under the ambit of Lokpal Bill and also the top investigation agencies like the Central Bureau of Investigation. The forum leaders also demanded that the Government take steps for unearthing black money stashed away abroad and that strong action should be taken against the people resorting to this practice in ignorance of the national interests.
