NEW DELHI: The Government of Victoria, Australia, will award scholarships to top 10 scholars from India to pursue their Ph.D. degrees at one of Victoria's nine universities from 2012 onwards.
The scholarships, worth (Australian) $ 90,0000 each, will be provided under the Victoria India Doctoral Scholarships Programme, launched at the Australian High Commission here on Tuesday by the State Government of Victoria and the Australia India Institute.
The programme is one of the “strategic engagement opportunities” initiated by the Victorian Government to strengthen relations between Victoria and India. The nine universities will provide a full tuition waiver and the scholarship will support living costs and education-related travel.
Students from India can apply to Victoria's universities such as Deakin University, La Trobe University, Monash University, RMIT University, Swinburne University, The Australian Catholic University, The University of Melbourne, University of Ballarat and Victoria University.
