Bangalore: Two robbers successfully evaded capture by ramming their car into the patrol vehicle, Cheetah, at the Summanahalli Flyover junction in the city in the early hours of Tuesday. Head Constable Ventakaramu (45) and Constable Riyaz Ahmed (27) both belonging to Kamakshipalya police station, chased the two over a distance of two km from Summanahalli but the cornered suspects rammed their car into the police motorcycle and raced away. The policemen were admitted to a neighbourhood hospital for injuries. The drama unfolded when the robbers allegedly snatched Rs. 3,000 and a gold chain worth Rs. 36,000 from C.R. Jagadeesh who got off from a Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) bus at Deepanjalinagar bus-stop and accepted a lift from the men who were in a cab. When the cab reached Summanahalli, the two robbed him at knifepoint. On hearing Mr. Jagadees's cries, the patrol vehicle chased the cab nearly 2 km when the robbers suddenly stopped, rammed the patrolling motorcycle and sped away. “The two had no walkie-talkie and weapons on them,” said an officer at the Kamakshipalya police station of his colleagues.
