Noon meal centre inspected

MADURAI:Collector U. Sagayam inspected a noon meal centre in T. Kallupatti and tested the food being prepared for the school children by tasting it on Tuesday.

The Collector had been to the T.Kallupatti panchayat union block and surrounding pockets to inspect on-going development projects.

He visited the new building, under construction, for the panchayat union office at a cost of Rs 1.50 crore and held discussions with the officials on the progress. He wanted the engineers' in-charge to ensure that quality materials were used in the construction.

He planted saplings at an anganwadi and, while crossing a noon-meal centre, Mr. Sagayam stopped for a surprise check and interacted with the children studying in the panchayat union middle school for sometime. He personally had a look at the kitchen, the grocery stocks available and urged the staff to keep the place clean.
